Jute Shibari Bondage Rope by Kink

Jute Shibari Bondage Rope by Kink

Premium-grade jute. No premium markup. The same high-grade Bangla Tossa fiber the high-end vendors brag about — sourced direct, sold at the price you should be paying for it.

Key Benefits

  • CRX-grade 100% Bangla Tossa — premium fiber at a friendly price
  • VOT-treated with food-grade soybean oil — JBO not used
  • 6 mm, 3-ply, hand-knotted ends — ready to tie out of the package
  • 30 ft pieces or 300 ft coils for cutting custom lengths
  • Backed by the 101-day KINK Promise
  • Made in Bangladesh

Built for shibari, priced for practice

Most of the jute rope you'll find online lives at one of two extremes: cheap hardware-store coil that's too rough to tie with, or boutique hand-finished rope at $30–$40 for a single 30-foot piece. We built this product to sit where the rest of the market refuses to: actual shibari-grade fiber at a price that lets you buy enough rope to actually practice.

The same fiber the premium guys use

Our rope is CRX-grade, 100% Bangla Tossa jute — the highest commercial grade of Bangladesh's premium long-fiber jute, and the same raw material that ends up in the most respected Japanese shibari ropes. We buy it direct from a CEO-led producer in Dhaka with no middlemen, which is why the math works at our price.

Treated the way it should be

The yarn is VOT (Vegetable Oil Treated) with food-grade soybean oil. JBO (Jute Batching Oil — the petroleum-based lubricant common in carpet-grade rope) is not used in our finishing process. Twisted at 38 TPM into a 3-ply, 6 mm rope, then hand-knotted at the ends and packed in a printed paper sleeve.

Plays like conditioned rope, right out of the package

You don't have to oil it, wax it, or singe it before your first session. The natural Bangla Tossa fiber has the grip-and-flow that traditional shibari knot-work needs — it bites when you cinch it down, glides when you feed it through a wrap, and lays flat against skin. If you eventually want to add your own wax or jojoba, the rope is shipped uncoated so you can take it where you want it.

Two ways to buy it

  • 30 ft pieces are ready to tie out of the package. Hand-tied overhand knots on both ends. This is the standard shibari working length — single column, two-rope chest harness, futomomo.
  • 300 ft coils are for cutting your own lengths. Taped ends. Roughly equivalent to ten 30-foot pieces, at a meaningful discount per foot.

Pro Tip: Jute rope shortens when wet because the fibers curl. If you ever wash it, hang it under tension to dry — it'll stretch back to length.

Specs

  • Material: 100% Bangla Tossa jute (Corchorus olitorius)
  • Grade: CRX (high-strength yarn grade)
  • Diameter: 6 mm
  • Construction: 3-ply, 38 twists per meter
  • Treatment: VOT — Vegetable Oil Treated with food-grade soybean oil. JBO not used.
  • Lengths: 30 ft (~160 g) · 300 ft (~1.5 kg)
  • End finish: 30 ft: hand-tied overhand knots · 300 ft: taped

Care & Storage

  • Out of the package: ready to tie. No break-in or special prep required.
  • Storage: loosely coiled in a breathable bag. Don't seal in airtight plastic.
  • If you wash it: hand wash cool, hang under tension to dry. Jute shortens when wet.
  • Optional finishing: some practitioners add a thin rope wax or jojoba oil for different finish and shine. Our rope ships untreated so the choice is yours.
  • Knot maintenance: re-tighten the overhand end-knots periodically.

A note on suspension

Natural fiber ropes can't be load-tested for guaranteed breaking strength the way synthetic uplines can. For suspension uplines, advanced riggers typically use multiple wraps, dedicated hard points, and their own rope-by-rope inspection. Use your own judgment.
